Newton Falls Treasure Hunt — Official Guidelines
Before the first clue is released, the ground rules matter.
Please read these guidelines fully before participating. They exist to preserve the integrity of the hunt, the safety of those involved, and the story unfolding here in Newton Falls.
Before we begin, a few things matter: • This is not a race. • This is not a scramble. • This is not a stunt.
Somewhere in Newton Falls, a significant treasure of cash, gold & silver coins, and jewelry worth thousands of dollars has been intentionally placed by The Merc. It will be claimed through observation, research, patience, and clues released over time.
After all clues are solved, participants will discover a key and a letter identifying where the treasure has been placed.
What This Hunt Is
• Free to participate • Open to the public • Designed to unfold slowly • Rooted in curiosity, not speed • Built around attention, interpretation, and restraint
What This Hunt Is Not
• No digging • No climbing • No trespassing • No entering water • No damaging or moving anything • No entering unsafe, restricted, or private property
If a clue leads you somewhere that feels risky or off-limits, you've misunderstood the clue.
The Treasure
• Tied to a specific, intentional location • Accessible from publicly available ground • Placed with care and purpose • Designed to be claimed properly and confirmed when found
No purchase required. No special equipment needed.
Participants assume all responsibility for their actions. Fieldview Acres Mercantile is not liable for injury, loss, or misinterpretation of clues.
"We reserve the right to remove comments or block users for harassment, abusive language, or disruptive behavior to maintain a positive experience for everyone participating."
Clues will be released periodically. Some will take time to understand. That is intentional.
This hunt may last a few months… or longer. That depends entirely on attention and observation.
When the treasure is successfully claimed, The Merc will confirm it publicly.
Confirmation & Conclusion
To preserve the integrity of the hunt, the individual who claims the treasure will participate in a brief verification process, which may include: • A photograph confirming the claim • A short acknowledgment of the find • Participation in a public confirmation or local press coverage
Until then, enjoy the process. This town has stories. This is just a new one.
Let those with a steady eye and patient mind proceed, for haste has never favored the worthy.
Context matters.

Notable phrases worth watching
Two phrases in the rules post echo Clue 1's voice and may be intentional in-text hints — or just thematic flourish:
-
"Let those with a steady eye and patient mind proceed, for haste has never favored the worthy" - Matches Clue 1's "The hunt does not reward the swift or loud" - Suggests observation > action; multiple visits / photographs may be needed
-
"Context matters." - Standalone closing line - Could mean: clues must be read in the context of Newton Falls' specific history, not as abstract puzzles - Or: each clue's position in the sequence matters (echoing Clue 1's "the distinction required here is made only by position")
