Dean Peregrine

The file

Released in full by the Property & Evidence Division. The suspect file is reproduced below, followed by every item logged into evidence with it.

Two-page LVMPD case file for suspect Dean Peregrine, showing the suspect profile with mugshot, the interview transcript, and the evidence recovered.

The evidence

The lead at the bottom of Peregrine’s file is not one document but three, all of them taped to the underside of a picnic table at a rest area in the southwest: a short typed letter and two handwritten notes, left there for an accomplice who never came. Two camera hits from the night of the breach are logged alongside them. Everything is enlarged below until every word and every number is legible. Nothing is hidden behind another click — scroll and read.

Your three moves

This file is one fifteenth of the case. Here is what to do with it.

  1. 1Match the treasureFifteen items were taken. Work out which one this suspect is holding — the file will not tell you outright.
  2. 2Solve the evidenceEvery file carries something the gang left behind: a cipher, a photograph, a slip in the transcript. Solve it for a place.
  3. 3Recover itBoots on the ground. Travel to the location and find the treasure — or the proxy standing in for it.
